Millersville University: Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry at Millersville University. Our American Chemical Society approved programs of study offer students the opportunity for a basic and comprehensive study in the field of chemistry. Students benefit from a common core of courses that provide basic theory and skills vital for all degree programs leading to the bachelor’s degree in chemistry. The recommended course sequence during the first year is identical for all three programs and differs only slightly through the junior year; thus any change in career emphasis in chemistry need not delay graduation.

Muhlenberg College: Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry at Muhlenberg College. The Chemistry Department provides a foundation for students who have a wide variety of career goals in the sciences and allied health fields. Therefore, we design the introductory general chemistry, and the second-year organic chemistry courses to fulfill the needs of chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and other majors. We maintain a well-balanced curriculum that is rigorous, includes all the major subdisciplines (analytical chemistry, biochemistry, environmental, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry), and offers a wide variety of specialized upper-level courses. We encourage scientific inquiry in the classroom and laboratory by proffering questions that require hands-on experiences with modern scientific equipment, and also challenge students to think and write critically about chemical principles. We encourage students to participate in collaborative research with faculty during the academic year and the summer session. Finally, we maintain American Chemical Society certification in both chemistry and biochemistry, and we support majors seeking Pennsylvania teacher certification in chemistry and environmental science.
