Department of Biochemistry at West Virginia University at West Virginia University. The Department of Biochemistry offers a broad range of medically relevant and basic research topics using the analytical tools of biochemistry, molecular biology and computational chemistry. The research interests of the faculty include the regulation of gene expression, RNA processing, anti-cancer drug discovery, signal transduction including drug-receptor interactions, organ development, carcinogenesis, cellular stress responses, ion channel physiology and pharmacology and structure/function relationships of proteins. The faculty pride themselves on the open, collegial atmosphere that they maintain with students and fellow scientists at West Virginia University. Many opportunities exist for interactions through seminar programs, journal clubs and research forums in which graduate students participate fully.
